Attracting God’s Favor Through Covenants

Of course, you know that favor is special preferential treatment not based on merit or hard work.

Introduction: Covenant is not a casual agreement; it’s a binding sacred relationship between man and God. It is governed by promises, responsibility and divine backing.

Gen 17: 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Favor flows naturally where covenant exists because God is committed to his covenants

Gods favor is covenant-driven- Psalm 102: 13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

Zion was favored because of Covenant.

How covenant creates divine Obligation

1. When you walk in covenant God takes responsibility for your defense, provision and promotion. Exd 2:24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. It wasn’t their groaning or tears that God remembered it was Covenant.
2. Covenant demands Obedience: Exd 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: Disobedience weakens covenant but obedience strengthens it.
3. Covenant establishes identity: It gives you identity that attracts favour. Duet 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessing naturally follows towards covenant people

Steps to walk in covenant in Christ

1. Faith in Christ – John 1:12
2. Consistent obedience to covenants practice – John 14:21
3. Sacrificial living through seed and service – Roms 12:1
4. Honouring God – 1Sam 2:30
5. Faithfulness and loyalty – proverbs 28:20

Conclusion We don’t chase favour, but when covenant aligns with our life favor automatically flow. Psalms 5: 12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
